In the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics, the Foot Clan was created by Oroku Saki, who would later become known as the villainous Shredder. Saki was a member of the Foot Clan in Japan, but was banished after a conflict with the Clan's leader. Seeking revenge, Saki moved to New York City and began recruiting members to form his own version of the Foot Clan, which he used to carry out his criminal activities. He adopted the identity of the Shredder and became a powerful and feared figure in the criminal underworld. The Foot Clan's origins have been explored and expanded upon in various adaptations of the franchise, but the core elements of Saki's vendetta against his former clan and his desire for power and revenge have remained consistent.
